Self-Help Books That I Could Actually USE

There’s something magical about a self-help book. They come along and create a sort of phenomenon. I remember the first one that really got me was The Secret. (Yes, I know I’m sounding like an old lady now.) I “secreted” my life for quite a while. It seemed so simple. Now it just seems like a cute idea but not exactly a deep philosophy.

A few months ago, my Facebook feed was filled with friends raving about Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be. I didn’t read this one. Again, it seemed waaaay too simple.

The latest craze, of course, is Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. Now that it’s been made into a Netflix series, “Kondo’d”has become a verb.

I didn’t find that book too helpful, either. But I do have a terrible shopping habit.

As I was waiting in an endless school pickup line yesterday, I got to thinking… what kind of self help books could I actually use?

Here’s what I came up with:

How to Love Your Partner Even When He Doesn’t Pick Up His Socks

How to Stop Being So Gosh-Darned Sensitive

How to Get Your Kids to Stay in Bed

How to Keep Your Home Clean Despite the Tasmanian Devils Living in It

How to Maintain Your Sex Life When You’re Exhausted and a Kid is Always in Your Bed

How to Stop Wasting Food

How To Get Your Kids To Stop Sassing You

How To Stay Healthy and Lose Weight… While Enjoying Wine, Doritos, and NOT Exercising Ever

Do you know where I can find books on any of these things??
